My advice on "how-to" do a Burrito challenge
Start with the meat first
Tortillas are the most filling part of the burrito in my opinion...well the whole thing is a carb overload with the usual rice and beans; some burritos don't always have it though depends on what they're making. Anyway, to fully "maximize" your burrito eating capabilities; start by eating all the filling first, then work your way to the tortilla. If possible eat all the meat first, then the beans and rice and tortilla.
Eating it fast
Burritos usually come with a generous serving of salsa so it makes it really really easy to "slurp" it down; burritos are actually one of the easiest challenges for me because of this; cuz I can swallow a lot fast without chewing too much; another reason why burgers are my weakness because burgers tend to be very dry and not that saucy. So abuse the fact that burritos already have so much lubricant and minimize the usage of other liquids so you don't need to "fill up" on other things not required with the challenge.
Beverage choice
I actually like to use non-carbonated drinks with burrito challenges because I bring in the soda when I need "more" capacity but since I'm eating burritos generally very fast soda I feel slows my down; so I just use normal liquids like juice or tea; also to change up the flavor too if the beans/rice gets too mushy and the taste gets old.
Speed-Eating
Ok so since I train myself to eat a certain capacity and burritos are very easy for me to eat; I eat them REALLY fast tortillas altogether without following the meat first rule; I use my hands to mix in the tortillas with the sauce so it'll soften and I can just slurp it all up; it's gross, but if you want to eat burritos at extreme speed, this is how I do it lol xD Most burrito challenges generally consists of 3-4 large tortillas so when I know they don't use more than that; I can freely just shove everything in at once knowing my capacity won't cap :)
Okay That's all I can think about for now if you have more questions contact me HERE and I'll add more to this page or to my FAQ section; below will be my in-depth commentary of Burrito Challenges I've done and how it differentiates from each other; Hope you found this useful! Love you Guys <3

THIS WAS MY FIRST EVER FOOD CHALLENGE!
Ok guys so this is how it all began, my first ever food challenge someone told me to do; I didn't know what food challenges were at first and I didn't even know they existed; so I showed up to this place nearby and I did really well!! It was only about 3-4lbs but for my first one I was going crazy! Like I said, burritos are generally very easy to swallow down because there's so much liquid and I was already a decently fast eater to begin with so this one was very fun and the manager here was very nice! If you guys are starting out definitely come to this place to try it out~ |

I was very nervous coming into this one because I am still fairly new at the food challenge game and this one was a massive 7lb burrito. I thought if I went crazy at it and shove it down ASAP I could manage it but...I didn't do it fast enough and also the tortillas were way WAY too filling. I ate most of it all together and the beans and rice were also overflowing...the taste was also not the best, there were raw carrots in there that didn't match well...Only about 2 months into food challenges right now and my capacity wasn't up to par as I thought it would be...BUT I did manage to come back and get revenge on it, Click HERE for video; and challenges done the second time around are defiantly a lot easier because you know what to expect :)

So I was definitely still bummed out from the last burrito challenge I failed but this one was far easy; almost half the size of the other one and it was close by so I wanted to give it a try. There are a good amount of people that finished this challenge and featured on the hall of fame but definitely none that finished it in my time; so after my completion the waitress told me she would specially make me a picture and it has a crown on my head haha. This burrito was delicious too! another easy challenge if you guys want to try it out. My only difficulty was I don't speak Spanish but it was still manageable to communicate that I wanted to do the challenge :) They have a lovely salsa bar where you can help yourself to also.

White Rabbit Truck "6lb Burrito Challenge" - October 21, 2017

Location varies; you have to track down their food truck.
Results: Finished right in about 30 Minutes <3

This one was especially tough; not because of the weight but because the burrito was basically rice and tortilla and minimal meat. Also the meat wasn't exactly the best either. This is a food truck that specializes in filipino - Mexican fusion food and their burrito is different from what you would normally expect; no salsa, and no beans, but a LOT of rice with some meat and eggs. Taran actually came out to try this challenge with me and failed because time ran out. 30 minutes is usually longer than what I need for a challenge but the amount of DRY rice they gave with this challenge made it especially difficult. If you really want to challenge yourself to see if you can do it, try it out; otherwise I'd advise against it lol.

I skipped over a few burrito challenges because it was all generally the same; beans, rice, some kind of meat (very similar) but I had to showcase this one!
This one was a very, very fun one because I got to do it with both Freakeating and Randy! I actually had previously came to do it and set the record around 9 minutes and I think this one I really kicked it up a notch because eating with other people give you that friendly competitive spirit and I totally ignored eat the meat first and then tortilla rule. It was especially easy to shove it down because it was so saucy and it was delicious with very soft meat so I actually beat my own record and set a new one! Big thanks to both of these guys for taking this one with me <3 |
Taco Hut's "Big jessie" 2.5lb burrito challenge - February 20, 2018
Details: Finish faster than the previous record to get it free and featured on their hall of fame!
11815 Foothill Blvd Rancho Cucamonga, California 91730
Results: I finished in 21:20 and Wayne and I became the first people to ever complete this challenge!
|
Special thanks to Main Event Pong for telling me about this challenge! They have a 2.5lb burrito challenge here, I know it's a LOT smaller than my other ones but what makes it fun is they keep track of who finishes it the fastest! The previous time was 3:50 so I wanted to beat that time! Like I said in the video with Randy, I kinda start to spiral into this "crazy" mode of eating to get it down really fast so WARNING...this video I end up 'chewing' with my hands to help soften it up and get it down faster. I also asked for some extra salsa on the side as lubricant because I figured that'd be more tasty and less gross than putting water on it haha but they actually serve it to you try so if you're attempting for the record, ask for some salsa!

This one looked especially fun since you get to choose your kind of meat and I chose fish, never had a fish burrito challenge; actually I've never even had a fish burrito before so I'm excited cuz I love seafood. It was definitely intimidated especially the only other person to complete this challenge was Eric the Electric and I did fail a 7lb burrito challenge before so I was scared but I tried it out and it definitely helped a LOT that this burrito was absolutely amazing and the fish was grilled to perfection. I think fish is lighter than beef and chicken so I feel like that was a smart choice, if you don't mind eating seafood. And since they let you choose fries or chips, I went with chips cuz it's less filling. :)

I actually came from a challenge from the Rib Line up in San Luis Obispo and this was on the way back home...I think it's about 5-6lbs total but the thing that I was afraid of was the bacon wrapped part; since I don't usually enjoy bacon...BUUUTTT This one actually turned out really tasty! The bacon made the burrito really juicy and this place had a lot of tasty salsa :) The people here are so nice and since they let you choose the meat; it was my first time having a shrimp burrito also! That made the burrito lighter than usual as opposed to chicken and steak. This burrito was actually undefeated and I was happy to be the first to conquer it :) The family here is very nice so if you're in the area; come check it out!
